The short answer: downtown Gatineau gives you three options. City meters suit short visits. A City monthly permit reserves an on-street space in the Hull sector for $146 or $168 a month. An STO bus pass costs $116.50 a month, and it is also valid on OC Transpo in Ottawa.
Paying at the meter

The reserved on-street monthly permit
If you come in every day, a monthly permit costs less than the meter. The City sells permits for reserved spaces on ten streets in the Hull sector. They are valid from March 1, 2026 to February 28, 2027.
- $146 a month: rue Crémazie, Ducharme, Hanson, Joffre, Lois and Mutchmore, and two zones of rue Notre-Dame-de-l'Île/Champlain.
- $168 a month: rue Marston and rue Saint-Rédempteur.
In these zones, parking is free after 5 p.m. on weekdays, on weekends and on holidays. To get a permit, fill in the City's "Demande de permis mensuel" form. Source: Ville de Gatineau.
Accessible parking
In Quebec, the disabled parking permit is issued by the SAAQ. Any person with a disability can get one, whether or not they live in Quebec, and whether they drive or ride as a passenger. You apply by mail. It takes four to six weeks and costs $20.10. Source: SAAQ.
Coming without a car: the STO
For a daily commute, the bus often costs less than a parking space. In 2026, an adult STO fare costs $4.75 in cash or $4.00 with a Multi card. The monthly pass costs $116.50. Source: STO, regular fares.

What about the tramway?

Winter
